I ordered a set of genre mini-posters from Demco last year. I loved them, but they didn't fit all of our genres. This summer the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to make my own to fit my building's genres. I also wanted to simplify what was hung on the library end caps, so this was the perfect solution: I used Piktochart to create these mini genre posters. I rotate between using Piktochart, Canva, and Adobe Spark Post for graphic design in the library or for social media. I've also used Piktochart for infographics, a beginning of the year bookmark, a few posters, and more! I've always had the free account and have been able to do what I needed to.
For this project, I chose a blank 8 x 11 size, I picked the background color for one, picked a font for the background words and made it slightly lighter or darker than the background, typed in a handful of words for that genre's background, chose a font for the title of the genre and typed it in, and then selected and sized an image to go along with the genre. Put in the title of the genre and picked a font for that then sized and centered it. Then I duplicated that block as the foundation for the next one but switched out the colors, words, and graphic. Feel free to right click the images above to save them or open in a new tab for easier printing if you would like to use any of them.
